Flora H. Owen, 91, Republic, died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in her home.  She was born September 8, 1909, in Clever, Missouri, to William and Sarah (Wilson) Miller.  Mrs. Owen has managed the Logan Court Apartments in Republic for the past 16 years.  She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold Sims and James Owen; her parents; a daughter, Billie Cole; a brother and four sisters.  She is survived by a daughter, Connie McCord, Wayne, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Les McCord and Lana McLemore; three great-grandchildren, Lee Swift, Angie Torres and Lisa Hakala; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Burnes Sparkman, Republic.  Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic with Rev. Ed Caton officiating.  Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery, Clever.  The Republic Chapel will be open Friday with visitation from 6 to 7 p.m. in the chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Missouri. George T. Owen, 45, of Springfield, a former Billings resident, died Friday. Survivors include his wife, Neva; two sons, Harold R. and Billy Wayne, of the home; five brothers, Frank and Walter, both of Springfield, Elmer, John and Harry, all of Billings, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Wilkins of Springfield and Miss Alice Owen of Kansas City. Funeral services were held in the Billings High School Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock, conducted by Rev. D.S. Frazier, pastor of the Billings Methodist church, and Rev. Warren Williams of Springfield. Burial was made in Rose Hill cemetery under direction of Wilburn Maples Funeral Home.

Services for Harley Guy Owen, 52, Forsyth, were held Dec. 8 in Forsyth Whelchel Chapel with the Rev. Roy Tennison officiating. Burial was in Protem Cemetery. Mr. Owen died Dec. 5 in Scottsdale, Arizona after a brief illness. Born in Protem and a native of the area, Mr. Owen served in the U.S. Army. He attended school in Forsyth, graduated from Greenwood High School, Springfield in 1947, graduated from Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield, received his master’s degree from Arizona State University and attended Arkansas State Teacher’s College. He was active as a counselor for drug and alcohol rehabilitation in Arizona and Missouri. Survivors include three sons, Mark Thieme, Atlanta, Ga., and Robert and Hal, both of Forsyth; two daughters, Kathy Caudill, Forsyth; a brother, H. R., Forsyth and one granddaughter. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

Funeral services for Harry Dewey  Owen, 58, a native and lifelong resident of the Billings community, who died Monday, Oct. 15 at St. John’s Hospital were held Wednesday afternoon in the Billings Christian Church with Rev. C. C. Keller officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of the Harris Funeral Home of Billings. He was  a retired Frisco blacksmith and farmer and a member of the Billings Christian Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent for several years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Brown Owen of the home near Billings; one son, Marion Owen of Billings; two grandsons; four brothers, Walter Owen and Frank Owen of Springfield; John Owen and Elmer Owen of Billings; two sisters, Miss Alice Owen of Kansas City and Mrs. Emma Wilkins of Springfield.

Hiram Roscoe "H. R." Owen, 81, of Forsyth, died Monday, April 12, 2004, in his home. H.R. was born Dec. 16, 1922, in Protem, Mo., the son of Myrtle Rose (Hensley) and Hobart Franklin Owen. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a degree in business administration. H.R. was an avid horseman and he loved all sports. He was a lifetime resident of Taney County. Survivors include his longtime companion, Joy Haggard, of the home; five nieces, Cathy Siebenlist and son Nicholas of Houston, Texas, Lana Crum, her husband, Chris, and their children, Amy and Keely of South Carolina, Kathy Owen of Forsyth, Lisa Owen of Forsyth, and Marilyn Stricklett and husband Mick of Nixa; four nephews, Mark Thieme, his wife, Kim, and children Rutger, Hunter and Colton of Springfield, Rob Owen, his wife, Joy, and daughter Wenoka of Forsyth, Hal Owen, his wife, Liliana, and children Halie and Hannah of Nixa, and Hobart "Bart" Owen and his wife, Tamara, of Reuter. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hobart F. Owen and Harley Guy Owen; and one sister, Virginia Weaver. Funeral services for H.R. Owen will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, in the White River Association Building with Reverend Randy Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Ozark Memorial Park, Branson. Hobart Franklin Owen, Jr., 47, Taney County prosecutor from 1950 to 1952, died Tuesday at Skaggs, Community Hospital, Branson, after a short illness. He practiced law in Springfield from 1958 to 1967. Mr. Owen was a graduate of Forsyth High School and the University of Missouri Law School. Survivors include his wife, Earlene; two daughters, Cathey and Lans, both of Branson; a son Hobart Franklin Owen, III, of the home; a stepson, Bill Mackey of the home; a sister, Mrs. C. L. Weaver, Springfield; and two brothers, H. R. and Harley, both of Forsyth. Through the seasons of life dreams are sought and love is found. These are the things that cannot be broken. For as time flows and life continues I will feel his dreams and I will hold his love. On Tuesday, June 21, Jerry Lee Owen went home to be with the Lord after a courageous eight month battle with cancer. He was a member of the St. Peter's Evangelical Church of Christ in Billings, and graduated from Billings High School in 1952. Jerry's love for baseball led him to coach Legion baseball in Republic for seven years. He took the team to the Nationals in South Dakota in 1978. He was in the mustang unit of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple since December 1986. He was also retired from Syntex Agri-Business in 1995, after 38 years of service. Those whom preceded him in death were his parents, John Lawrence and "Bess" Owen; and three sons, Mark Anthony, Jerry Lee, and Mickey Lawrence. Surviving is his wife of almost 52 years, Louise; two sons, Tommy and his wife, Brenda, and Terry and his wife, Cathy; four grandchildren, Albert Owen, Amanda Neal and her husband, Steve, John Owen and his wife, Thenia, and Melinda Buckert and her husband, Jason; two great-granddaughters, MacKenzie Buckert and Audrie Buckert, due any day; and a "sister" of 66 years, Thelma Flowers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, in Meadors Funeral Home, Republic, with Pastor Doug Burwick officiating, and Masonic Rites by Bill Moore. She was a charter member of the Genealogy Society, Charter member of Amarath member of the social order of the Beauceant, past Worthy Commander of the Queen Ester Conclave # 5, member of the True Kindred, Eastern Star, Pleldaes #1, White Shrine, past president of the Query Club, a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, and a member of Extension Club for over 60 years. There are no immediate survivors. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Ragan-Thieme Chapel with the Rev. Arthur Short officiating. Burial will be in Manley Cemetery, Christian County. Lucy L. Owen, 101, Nixa, Mo., was born November 4, 1907, and passed away March 27, 2009. Lucy attended school in the Hartley School District. She was a homemaker. On September 16, 1935, she married Roscoe Owen. She was a member of Briar Street Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Patrick Payne and Eunice Luci Lebow; two brothers, Jo Payne and Fred Payne; and four sisters, Clara Payne, Minerva Aven, Wilda McCafferty and Nona Helerecht. She is survived by three nieces, Betty Jo Fitzpatrick of Nixa, Nancy Grimm of Springfield, and Erma Wagemann of Springfield; and numerous great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and many many friends. Merle E. Owen, 88, Nixa, died at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 25, 1990, in Springfield Healthcare Center. The daughter of William A. and Dora Aven, she was born Dec. 1, 1902, near Nixa and lived most of her life in the Nixa area. She was a member of High Street Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Buster" Owen. She is survived by a daughter, Georgia Sanders, and her husband, Lowell, Nixa; a son, Leon, Nixa; a sister, Archie Ward, Springfield; five nieces and one nephew; a grandson, Larry Owen, and his wife, Linda, St. Louis; a granddaughter, Lana Brown, and her husband, Gordon, Nixa; and two great-grandsons, Eric and Trevor Owen, St. Louis. Meta Joyce (Whanger) Owen, 81, passed from this life into the glory of Heaven on January 2, 2008. She was born August 5, 1926, to Walter and Marguerite Whanger in Mokane, Mo. On May 16, 1947, she was united in marriage to Archie Owen in St. Louis by W. Carl Ketcherside. They remained in St. Louis until moving to the Billings area in 1993. Meta was a wonderful wife and mother who loved to cook and care for her family. She also enjoyed gardening and living on the farm. She had a deep faith in the Lord and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Russell and Raymond. Survivors include her husband, Archie Owen; four children, Kerry Owen and wife, Kathy, Linda Malmberg and husband, Virgil, Becky Owen, Jackie Cunningham and husband, Jeff; and their grandchildren, Brian and Ben Cunningham. Funeral services were held January 5, 2008, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, Mo., with Larry Owen officiating. Burial was in the Ball Cemetery in Dora, Mo.

Milford Leon Owen, age 85, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord on November 3. He was born on October 5, 1920, in Nixa, Mo., the son of George and Lulu Owen. He has been a lifelong resident of Greene County. He was a retired cattleman, spending more than 35 years at the Union Stockyards in Springfield. He was a salesman for Furst-McNess Company for more than 20 years. He was a World War II Veteran, and a loving role model father. He spent more than 75 years of his life living on a farm. He enjoyed his children, his church, his friends, and most of all, his grandchildren. He enjoyed carpentry work, cattle shows, and farm shows. He is survived by four children: his daughter, Vonda Yocum, Springfield, and three sons, George and wife Sandy, Joshua Tree, Calif., Doug and wife Judy, Brookline, Mo., and Aaron and wife Jennie, Bois D'Arc; six grandchildren, Monica and husband Adam Meador, Springfield, Clint and Shawna Owen, Joshua Tree, Calif., and Adam, Matt, and Casey Owen, Bois D'Arc; one great-grandson, Keyton Meador, Springfield; other survivors include Virginia Owen, Don Yocum, many nieces and nephews, plus a host of friends from around Southwest Missouri. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, and twelve siblings. He was a longtime member of the Wilson Creek Baptist Church, Battlefield, Mo. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. today in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday, November 7, 2005, in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Patterson Cemetery, Nixa. Murl "Gene" Owen, 92, Nixa, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009, in Christian Health Care, Nixa. Gene was born on June 28, 1916, to John S. and Effie Owen in Strafford, Mo., where he grew up with three brothers and three sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Doc, John and Wilmer; and sisters, Mildred, Irene and Adaline; and one grandson, Danny Gene Blades. Gene is survived by two daughters, Sharon Wilson and husband, Coad, Springfield, Mo., and Carrie Roberts, Republic, Mo.; six grandchildren, Kandee Blades, Shawnee Kan., Skip Blades and wife, Tamra of Parker, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Brenden and Elle Blades of Parker, Colo.; nieces and nephews; and many special friends. Gene served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, then spent most of the rest of his life in oil and mineral exploration. Prior to moving back to Missouri in April, 2003, he lived several years in Arkansas, leaving the area and special friends for health reasons. Pearl V. Owen, 95, of Aurora, died Feb. 23 at the Aurora Nursing Home after a long illness. Services for Mrs. Owen were held Feb. 26 at the Meadors Chapel, Billings, with the Rev. Melvin Stapp officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Billings. A lifelong resident of the Billings area, Mrs. Owen was a member of the Billings First Baptist Church. Her survivors include a sister, Eula McElhaney, Aurora, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Robert F. Owen was born January 12, 1852 and departed this life at his home in Nixa January 7, 1941 at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 25 days. He was married to Susan Doran Nov. 9, 1873. She preceded him in death June 29, 1927. To this union were born two children: Everett L., of the home and Mrs. Ella Young of Springfield, MO. He was a member of the Nixa Christian church for many years. Those who survive him beside his children are one brother, John Owen of Rogersville, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Wednesday in the Nixa Christian church conducted by Rev. B. Frank West with burial in the Payne cemetery under the direction of the Wilburn Maples Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday for a well-known Greene County stockman and farmer who was killed yesterday in a tractor-binder accident on his farm on Route 8.  Roscoe E. (Ross) Owen, 51, as pronounced dead on arrival at Springfield Baptist Hospital about 3 p.m. yesterday.  Klingner Funeral Home attendants said Owen was working a 40-acre barley field, about two miles southwest of Patterson Cemetery, when the accident occurred.  Attendants said Mr. Owen had apparently started his tractor in gear and the machine and an attached binder passed over his body.  He was pulled into the binder and dragged about 60 feet, they added.  A small boy and a hired hand of Mr. Owen’s were in the field at the time of the accident.  Mr. Owen suffered multiple skull fractures, a jaw fracture, an almost severed left leg and cuts and abrasions.  A member of High Street Baptist Church, Mr. Owen is survived by his wife, Lucy; seven brothers, Bryan and Comer of Route 8, George of Nixa, Almus of Kansas City, Donald and Loren of Springfield and Milford of Brookline; and three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Wisner and Mrs. Avis Payne of Springfield and Mrs. Lula Arndt of Brookline.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in High Street Church with the Rev. W. E. Dowell officiating.  Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery.  Joe Smith, Knial Kissee, F. R. Malloy, Frank Rose, Homer Hayward and Lee McLean will serve as pallbearers.

Benton "Bob” Owens, age 74, Ozark, died January 15, 2009. He was born April 5, 1934 in Dora, Missouri, the son of Harley and Cloa (Martin) Owens.             A Verona man was killed and two people were injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident a mile east of Billings on Highway 60 in Christian County at 6:25 p.m. yesterday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol issued the following report: Cameron Owens, 22, one of the drivers, was killed in the wreck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Deputy Coroner Andy Jenkins. The body was taken to Adams Funeral Home in Nixa. Nicole Mobley, 21, of Mt. Vernon, a passenger in the Owens vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was taken to St. John's Regional Hospital in Springfield. Mary Barnhardt, 74, of Aurora, the other driver, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. The accident occurred when the westbound Mercury driven by Barnhardt crossed the center line and struck head-on the eastbound Ford Mustang driven by Owens. Investigating the wreck was Trooper Ron Cole.

Doris Jean Owens, 75, beloved mom, grandma, sister and friend, entered eternal life peacefully and quietly while surrounded by family on January 29, 2009, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Doris was born in Nixa, Mo., on March 27, 1933, to Curtis and Dorothy Arndt. She was the eldest of 12 children. The family relocated several times throughout her childhood as her father was a master of many trades including a carpenter, farmer, cheesemaker and artist. Her mother was a loving homemaker. In 1954, Doris met the love of her life, Bobby Gene Owens, at the Diner in Springfield, Mo., and the two were married on December 31, 1956. They moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., where Doris gave birth to three beautiful children, Kathy, Gregg and Paula. The family eventually settled in Widefield, Colo., in 1971, where Bob worked as an engineer for Western Union and Doris enjoyed her duties as a loving wife and mother. Doris is survived by her three children, Kathy Lallas, Gregg (Sharon) Owens and Paula (Richard) Walters, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren, Bobby Cline, Jackie Cline, David Owens, Tina Lallas and Kevin Owens, all of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister Jackie Nelson of Manitowoc, Wisc.; brother Curt (Cynthia) Arndt of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother Carl (Carol) Arndt of St. Peters, Mo.; and sisters, Janet (Danny) Call of Reeds Spring, Mo., and Joyce (Rick) Williams of Nixa, Mo. Edith C. Owens, age 98, was born June 16, 1909, in Sparta, Missouri, to E.W. McFadden and Elodia (Jenkins) McFadden. She departed this life on March 14, 2008. On February 12, 1933, she married Charles M. "Jack" Owens who preceded her in death in April of 1958. She was a resident of Springfield from 1962 until 2006 at such time as she moved to Ozark Nursing and Care Center in Ozark, Missouri. Edith was a member of Galloway Baptist Church and loved her many church friends. She retried from Holiday Inn in Springfield where she was a bookkeeper. Survivors include two nieces, Sandy Countryman and her husband, Larry, of Ozark, and Eloise Gooch and her husband, Pat, of Springfield, a nephew, Jim McFadden of Sparta; great-nephews, Bruce Rathbun and his wife, Leslie, of Marshfield, Larry Rathbun and his wife, Richelle, of Kilgore, Texas, Brad Countryman and his wife, Michelle, of Belton, Mo.; and great-niece Traci Countryman of Springfield. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield. Helen Mae Owens was at last reunited with her life long love and husband, Jack E. Owens, in heaven on Sunday morning. Helen was born September 13, 1920, Helen Mae Batey in Joplin, Mo. She was raised in Springfield by her mother, Eva (Green) Collins. She graduated from Central High School in 1938, and wed her husband of 58 years in 1941, in Jackson, Miss. He preceded her in death in 1999. They had two children, Stephen Thomas and Jacque Sue, who they raised on Fort Street in Springfield, across from Temple Baptist Church. Both were heavily involved with the church where Helen helped build the church library. She worked in the library until just a couple of years ago when her eyesight began to fail. She had a deep love of crossword puzzles, books and learning, as well as bird watching and gardening. She is survived by her two children, Stephen Owens and wife, Marilyn of Clever, Mo., and Jacque Sue Lake and husband, David of Longview, Wash.; grandchildren, Michael Owens and wife, Theresa of Rogersville, Mo., and Carrie Blunk and husband, Marty, of Longview, Wash.; her great-granddaughter, Nicque Britten (daughter of Carrie), also of Longview, Wash.; a step-grandson, David Lake and wife, Bonnie of Scottsdale, Ariz.; as well as many cousins, nephews, nieces and wonderful friends. A small graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., in Maple Park Cemetery, under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut. No visitation is planned.             Inez Owens, age 93 of Nixa, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Nixa. Mrs. Owens was born in Battlefield, the daughter of Henry and Alta (Perkins) DeMonbrun. She married Clifford Owens in 1936. They operated Owens Motor service in Springfield prior to their retirement. Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Moore and husband Bob; granddaughter, Connie Harp; and six great-grandchildren, Aaron Harp, Amanda Fenley, Alesia Harp, Kyle Moore, Luke Moore and Alex Moore. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clifford; a grandson and his wife, Mark and Cindy Moore; one sister; and three brothers. Mrs. Owens was a faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served as a volunteer at Cox Hospital for 39 years. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in White Chapel Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday immediately before the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , local Parkinson's Association, or HPS Hospice, who was very helpful and caring to her during her last months.

John Alic Owens, 91, died Thursday evening, Aug. 24, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Merritt near Clever, following a lingering illness. Mr. Owens, a farmer, had lived all of his life in and near Billings. His wife preceded him in death seven years ago. He is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Maudie Crain, Mrs. Minnie Stahlcup, Mrs. Hattie Brashears, and Mrs. Bessie Brashears, all of Republic, Mrs. Ruth Starbuck of Marionville and Mrs. Cora Galloway of Billings; and several grandchildren. June L. Owens, of Rolla, passed away Jan. 9, 2008 at the Ozark Riverview Manor Nursing Center in Ozark. She was 89 years old. June was born in Rolla on June 25, 1918 to the late William Franklin and Helen Louise (Favre) Carroll. On July 10, 1937 she married James E. Owens who preceded her in death on May 29, 1991. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and August Carroll; one sister, Louise Stevens; a grandson, Timothy Gaddy; and a granddaughter-in-law, Sandra Gail Gaddy. June spent her entire life ministering to others through her love of the Lord. She attended the First Assembly of God in Rolla. She will be greatly missed by her loving family which includes five children, Connie Knowles, of Rolla, Jim Owens, of Jackson, Carol Gaddy, of Ozark, Sherri Walker, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Ken Owens, of Granite City, Ill.; four sisters, Lucille Capps, of Rolla, Viola Turner, of Collinsville, Ill., Rose Carroll, of St. Louis, and Mary Sevic, of St. Charles; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends. Nelda E. Owens, 60, Nixa, died at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 1997, in Balanced Care Nursing Home, Nixa, following a long illness. Nelda was born August 7, 1937, in Paducah, KY., the daughter of Theodore and Mary Hamby McDaniel. She was married to James F. Owens, June 9, 1957, in Indiana. She is survived by five daughters, Margaret Duncan, Linda Shaw, Springfield, Lisa Powers and Melanie Seeloff, Nixa; two sons, E.J. Owens and James F. Owens Jr., Nixa; two sisters, Nelva Morrison, Bobbie Barnett, Evansville, Ind.; a brother, Joe McDaniel, Arizona; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, Mary and Theodore McDaniel, her husband, James F. Owens Sr., and a sister, Patricia McDaniel. Human remains found in county identified

            Human remains that were found in Christian County were recently identified as those of Norma Jean Owens.

            In June of 2004, the 65-year-old Owens was reported missing from her home in Springfield.

            Recently suspected human remains that were discovered in Christian County were tested and positively identified as those of Owens.

            Further forensic evidence that should prove beneficial to the case was recovered at the scene and has been submitted for lab analysis with results expected soon.

Sam B. Owen, 84, died at his home near Halltown Monday, March 5, after a short illness. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Halltown Christian church with interment in the Garoutte cemetery under direction of the Wallace Funeral Home of Billings. He is survived by a brother, Jerry, and other relatives.

Sarah "Sadie" Awilda Owens, 88, Ozark formerly of Sparta died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 1995, in Springfield Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1906 near Rayville, the daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Martha June Holman Watkins. She was united in marriage to Robert Owens in 1922. They lived many years in north Missouri then settled on a farm near Bruner. After retiring they lived in Sparta. She was a homemaker and loved her flowers and garden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one son, George William Owens; a daughter, Thelma Marie Owens; two great-grandchildren, Jodie Ann Shelton and Angela Lianne Owens; one great-great-grandchild, Zane Burnell Fink; a sister, Dora Watkins Sharp; and a brother, William "Willie" Franklin Watkins.  Survivors include one son, Robert Owens Jr.; nine grandchildren, Jackie and Wanda Owens, Bruner, Betty and Robert Fink, Bruner, Wanda and Robert Pearson, Dogwood, Donna and Joseph Wright, Bruner, Linda and Dale Underwood, Seymour, Jerry and Genela Owens, Elkhead, Phyllis arid Raymond Dobbins, Fordland, Dorothy and Ben Shelton, Squires, Judith and David White, Leavenworth, Ks.; 29 greatgrandchildren, 25 great-great-grandchildren; a brother Thomas Jefferson Watkins Jr.; a special great-grandson, Darrell Owens, Springfield; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday, Jan. 13, in Harris a Heritage Funeral Horne, Ozark, with the Rev. Carl Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Bruner Cemetery.

Rev. David O. Owings, 64, Ozark, passed away at 5:10 a.m. Sunday, January 13, 2002, in his home. The celebration of his going home brings good memories and reflections to the many friends, people and families he served during his ministry. David was born March 21, 1937, in Brownwood, Texas, the son of Auzie and Elsie Owings. On December 7, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sandra Murray, in Huxley, Texas. His ministry and obedience to God guided his values and Christian lifestyle. He served as pastor to churches in Iowa, West Texas, Kansas, Northern Missouri, Ozark Eastern Gate, and Chadwick First Baptist. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Ozark, the Ministerial Alliance and served as a volunteer for St. John’s Regional Health Center. He was preceded in death by both parents, and a sister, Lenora Jo Adams. David is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Nolte and husband, Terry of Ozark; one son, Kavin David Owings and wife, Holly of Fayette; two granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Nolte of Ozark; two step-grandchildren, Cori and Eric Kioh of Fayette; one brother, AJ Owings of Brownwood, Texas; one sister, Merle Huff of Fort Worth, Texas; other relatives, neighbors and many friends. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2002, in First Baptist Church Ozark, with Pastor Troy Rhoden and Brother Casey Perry officiating, under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery, Ozark. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today, January 15, 2002, in Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark. Sam D. Oxenreider, 79, of Fordland, died Feb. 25 at St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield; after a long illness. Services for Mr. Oxenreider were held at 1 p.m. Mar. 1 in the Marsh Funeral Home, Rogersville. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery. Mr. Oxenreider was born June 11, 1909 in New Virginia, Iowa, to Clarence and Lucy Edwards Oxenreider. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was married to Mabel Davis Jan. 18, 1944, and was a member of the Green Hill Church, Fordland. Mr. Oxenreider was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, in 1975, and by a son, George, in 1975. Surviving are a daughter, Goldie March, Fort Mohave, Arizona; two brothers, Jerry, Rogersville, and Herbert, Seymour; six sisters, Flossie Calsen, Fordland, Pearl Felix, Springfield, Ruth Freeman, Humansville, Grace Burks, Lucy Hudson, and Goldie Stennett, all of the state of California; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

OZARK - Eldred B. Oxley, longtime Ozark businessman  died about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday in Cox Medical Center, Springfield. Mr. Oxley, 63, a native of Ozark County, move to the community in 1845 where he established Marshall Auto Store, later known as Midwest Auto. He sold the firm in 1966. Along with an associate, Mr. Oxley establish Ozark Insurance Center in 1966 and remained a partner in the firm until March 1. He was also a member of Northside Church of Christ where he had been an elder for about 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Doris P.; a son, Charles I., Springfield; a daughter, Mrs. Carol J. Lamb, Ozark; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. Oxley, Ozark and three grandchildren. Services were announced by Harris in Ozark.

Norris Vincent "Vince" Oxner, the son of Norris Newbern Oxner and Theda Dean (Ermer) Oxner, was born June 26, 1965, in Helena, Arkansas, and departed this life Nov. 24, 2006, at the age of 41 years, four months and 28 days. Vince was a resident of Ozark, Missouri, since 1995 moving from West Plains, Mo. He was employed as a purchasing manager for the trucking industry for several years. On June 22, 2002, Vince and Melanie Dawn Robertson were united in marriage in Ava, Mo., and to this union a son was born. Vince was a member of the Baptist Church and an officer of the Christian Co. Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family. Vince is survived by his wife, Melanie; his son, Luke Mcrae Oxner of the home, Ozark, Mo.; his parents, Norris and Theda Oxner, Mtn. Home, Ark.; one sister, Victoria Lynne Oxner, Ozark, Mo.; father and mother-in-law, Rex and Judy Robertson, Thornfield, Mo.; two sister-in-laws, Kelly Evans and husband, Mark, Sherry Garrison and husband, Mike, one brother-in-law, Kevin Robertson and wife, Sherri; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo., with the Rev. Robert Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Thornfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Luke Oxner Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
